NEGERI SEMBILAN ELECTION 2026: WHAT HAPPENED?

Malaysia’s political scene has another big development.

The Negeri Sembilan state election was held on 1 August 2026, with all 36 state assembly seats contested.

And the result?

🔵 Barisan Nasional (BN): 18 seats
🟢 Perikatan Nasional (PN): 7 seats
🔴 Pakatan Harapan (PH): 11 seats

That means BN and PN together secured 25 out of 36 seats, giving them a two-thirds majority in the state assembly.

This is a major change from the previous state assembly, where PH held 17 seats and BN held 14.

Several prominent PH figures also lost their seats, including Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who was defending the Chennah constituency.

📌 Why does this matter?

The Negeri Sembilan result is being closely watched because it comes shortly after the Johor state election, where BN also performed strongly.

For Malaysia’s political landscape, the results could influence how the different parties approach future elections and their strategies going forward.
