Former PM Ismail Sabri admitted to IJN ahead of expected court charge

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 August 2026 — Former prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Friday, shortly before he was expected to appear in court in connection with an investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Ismail Sabri was scheduled to appear before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Friday to face a charge linked to the declaration of assets during his tenure as prime minister.

However, his admission to IJN has raised the possibility that the scheduled court proceedings could be postponed, with further developments expected once his medical condition and ability to attend court are assessed.
